Watch: Babar Azam Explains How Pakistan Reached No.1 in ODI

On Sunday, Babar Azam, the leader of Pakistan’s cricket team, cheered for his group because they did great. Pakistan’s team, often called the “Green Shirts,” won all three matches in a series against Afghanistan on Saturday. This big win not only made the Pakistani team feel more sure before the Asia Cup, which begins on September 30, but also pushed Babar Azam and his players to the top place in the ODI rankings.

The Pakistan cricket team celebrated being number one by sharing a cake. Babar, the team leader, gave a strong pep talk to his teammates. He reminded them to focus on the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which they’ve been eagerly waiting for.

“We’re at the top in One Day International (ODI) rankings. The credit goes to all our players who have worked really hard. We’ve had good and tough times, but our team has always stayed close. Our strong bond is what makes us the number one team,” Babar said.

Pakistan moved up to the number one spot in the One Day International (ODI) rankings. They achieved this by winning against Afghanistan by 59 runs in the third and final match played in Colombo on Saturday.

Pakistan won the opening match by 142 runs, and in the next game, they managed to win with only one wicket left. Both of these matches happened in Hambantota.

Before the series, Pakistan held the second spot in the International Cricket Council ODI rankings. Yet, their fantastic 3-0 victory in the series pushed them ahead of Australia and into the first place.
