Prime Minister Unveils Metro Operations and Projects in Pune

After that, at approximately 12.45 pm, he will commence the operation of metro trains and officially open and lay the foundation stone for several important development projects, as stated by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Talking about metro trains, Modi will inaugurate the services on the finished sections of the two corridors of Pune Metro Phase I.

These sections stretch from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and from Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station, for which the foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister back in 2016.

These new sections will establish crucial connections between significant locations in Pune city, including Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO, and Pune Railway Station.

According to the PMO statement, this inauguration marks a significant milestone in fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of offering the citizens modern and eco-friendly mass rapid urban transport systems throughout the country.

Pune Metro’s Artistic Touch: Showcasing Maharashtrian Heritage

Regarding the metro station design, the statement mentioned that some of the stations along the route take inspiration from the architecture of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan Metro Station and Deccan Gymkhana metro stations have a special and one-of-a-kind appearance that looks like the traditional headgear worn by soldiers during the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This headgear is famously known as the “Mavala Pagadi”.

Furthermore, the Shivaji Nagar underground Metro station has a special and unique design that brings to mind the forts constructed by Shivaji Maharaj.

The Civil Court metro station stands out as one of the deepest in the whole country, reaching a remarkable depth of 33.1 meters. What makes this station unique is the way its roof is designed, allowing bright sunlight to shine directly onto the platform.

PM Modi To Inaugurate Waste To Energy Plant

Besides the metro, PM Modi will also open the Waste to Energy Plant at Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). This incredible plant has been built with an investment of around ₹300 crore.

What’s fascinating about this plant is that it can convert a massive amount of waste, approximately 2.5 lakh MT every year, into electricity.Isn’t that amazing? This means we can generate electricity by using the waste we produce! It’s a wonderful step towards a cleaner and greener future.

As we stride forward in our mission to ensure housing for every person, Prime Minister Modi will hand over 1,280 homes built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC. Additionally, there will be a handover of more than 2,650 PMAY houses constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation.

This is a significant step towards making sure everyone has a place to call home.
