Mammootty Unveils Birthday Surprises: Trailer of 'Kannur Squad' and First Look of 'Bramayugam'

On the auspicious occasion of Mammootty’s 72nd birthday, fans and film enthusiasts received a double treat as the iconic actor unveiled two exciting surprises – the thrilling trailer of his upcoming investigative thriller, Kannur Squad, and the intriguing first look of Bramayugam. Let’s dive into the details of these much-anticipated releases.

‘Kannur Squad’ Trailer: A Glimpse into the World of Intrigue

Helmed by Roby Varghese Raj and produced by none other than Mammootty himself, Kannur Squad promises to be a gripping thriller that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. The film, written by Muhammad Shafi and Rony David Raj, introduces Mammootty as an ASI (Assistant Sub-Inspector) embroiled in a “tricky case.”

In the trailer, we witness Mammootty’s character leading a team of dedicated officers in their pursuit of a notorious criminal gang that spans the entire country. The plot unfolds as Mammootty goes undercover to outsmart the antagonists, engaging in intense face-offs and thrilling showdowns.

The official logline of the film reads, “The gripping saga of a police officer and his team, their challenging journey to nab a criminal gang across the country. Further, it shows how he leads his team towards triumph, amidst professional uncertainties in this gripping drama.”

Apart from the iconic Mammootty, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Kishore, Vijayaraghavan, Rony David Raj, Azeez Nedumangad, Shabareesh Varma, Sarath Sabha, and Sunny Wayne. The film’s crew comprises cinematographer Muhammed Rahil, music director Sushin Shyam, editor Praveen Prabhakar, production designer Shaji Naduvil, makeup artist Ronex Xavier, costume designers Arun Manohar and Abhijith, and sound designer Tony Babu. Dulquer Salmaan’s production house, Wayfarer Films, will be responsible for distributing the movie in Kerala.

Kannur Squad marks a significant milestone for Mammootty’s production house, Mammootty Kampany, as it becomes their fourth venture following Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, Rorschach, and Kaathal – The Core. Interestingly, a portion of the film was shot at Mammootty’s alma mater, Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam, evoking a wave of nostalgia for the superstar.

While the trailer has already piqued the interest of fans, the makers are yet to announce the film’s official release date, leaving audiences eagerly awaiting its arrival.

‘Bramayugam’ First Look: Mammootty Transforms for Dark Ages Drama

In addition to the exhilarating Kannur Squad trailer, Mammootty’s birthday celebrations also unveiled the first-look posters of his upcoming film, Bramayugam. Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, known for his work in Bhoothakaalam, and produced by Nigh Shift Studios and YNot Studios, this film promises to be a unique cinematic experience.

The black and white poster of Bramayugam presents Mammootty in an unrecognizable avatar. Seated bare-chested, he offers a mysterious yet intriguing smile to the camera, setting the tone for what appears to be a captivating journey into the dark ages of Kerala.

Director Rahul Sadasivan expressed his excitement, saying, “I am elated to be living the dream of directing the stalwart Mammookka. Bramayugam is a rooted story set in the dark ages of Kerala, and I am glad to be backed by the producers in pushing the boundaries of making this into an immersive film experience. I hope it will be a treat to Mammookka’s fans and fans of the genre across the world.”

As Mammootty continues to surprise and captivate audiences with his versatile roles, these birthday reveals have only intensified the anticipation for his upcoming projects, making this birthday celebration a memorable one for both the actor and his fans.
