Marimuthu faced a sudden medical emergency when he collapsed at approximately 8:30 am on a Friday morning. This unfortunate incident occurred while he was actively involved in dubbing for his TV serial “Ethirneechal” in Chennai. He was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Sadly, according to a tweet from Johnson, a public relations professional in the South film industry, Marimuthu was later declared deceased.

“Shocking… director-actor Marimuthu passed away now at 8.30 am. Due to cardiac arrest. RIP Marimuthu,”

he tweeted. In another tweet, he said,

“It has been confirmed that actor Marimuthu (58) who was dubbing for Ethireneechel serial this morning suddenly fainted and was taken to the nearby Surya Hospital, where he died due to chest pain…

Actor Radikaa Sarathkumar expressed her sadness and shock through a heartfelt tweet, saying,

“So sad and shocked to hear of his passing of Marimuthu have worked with him a man with talent, gone so soon. Condolences to his family.”

Who was G Marimuthu?

According to a report by One India, he has appeared in more than 50 films, in addition to his roles as a movie director and his appearances on television shows. G Marimuthu decided to leave his hometown of Pasumalaitheri in Theni back in 1990, driven by his aspirations of making it as a film director.

At first, he started his career as a waiter in hotels. However, his fate took a turn when he crossed paths with the well-known lyricist Vairamuthu. This fortuitous encounter led to an opportunity as an assistant director, and he began working alongside Rajkiran on notable films such as “Aranmanai Kili” (1993) and “Ellame En Rasathan” (1995), as reported by the source.

Marimuthu’s journey as an assistant director continued to flourish, as he collaborated with esteemed filmmakers like Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and SJ Surya. Additionally, he took on the role of a co-director for Silambarasan’s film “Manmadhan.”
