Healthcare for All: 'Ayushman Bhav' to be rolled out on PM Modi's Birthday – Who Will Benefit?

The ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign, which was officially launched by President Droupadi Murmu last Wednesday, is all set to kick off this Sunday, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. This nationwide healthcare initiative has a big goal: to make sure that healthcare programs are available in every village and town across the country.

What is ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign?

As per the health ministry, the ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign embodies a “complete nationwide healthcare endeavor.” A government statement further explained that it aligns with the principle of “inclusive progress,” with the aim of ensuring that no one in the country is left behind.
The campaign’s primary goal is to offer comprehensive healthcare services, reaching every village and town in the country. The ministry labeled it a “pioneering initiative” that builds upon the accomplishments of the Ayushman Bharat program and represents a “significant change in healthcare services.”
The approach involves three main parts: Ayushman – Apke Dwar 3.0, Ayushman Melas held at Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs), and Ayushman Sabhas conducted in every village and panchayat.
The ministry explained that Ayushman Bhav aims to distribute Ayushman cards, create ABHA IDs, and raise awareness about important health programs and conditions, including non-communicable diseases, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease.
Its main objective is to make sure that healthcare services are accessible in every part of the country, overcoming geographical obstacles.
The campaign will be carried out during the ‘Seva Pakhwada’ from September 17 to October 2. It is marked by a “comprehensive national and societal approach,” uniting government departments, civil society groups, and communities in a joint endeavor to ensure that vital healthcare services are available to everyone, without any form of discrimination or exclusion, as stated by the ministry.

Within the Ayushman Bhav campaign, health fairs and medical camps are going to be really important. These events are planned to take place once a week at all the health and wellness centers (HWCs) and community health centers (CHCs) throughout the country.

President Murmu, during the virtual launch of the campaign from Raj Bhawan Gandhinagar in Gujarat, stated, “This important launch of the campaign and the portal represents a major step forward in our efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and make sure that healthcare is available for everyone. It aims to make healthcare services more accessible and affordable, especially for those who are often overlooked.”
